Mixed Outage

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

One of the upstream providers our DC uses (NTT) had a outage this morning, and has caused several outages - I have beent old the DC is cutting from NTT->Sprint, this is filtering down and should be to most networks soon.

I apologize for the continued outages due to attack/network issues - I am hoping things are going to be fixed up here soon - I will update with more as soon as I get it.

Massive DDoS Attack

Thursday, October 9th, 2008

As many have noted over the last few hours things have been slow to offline, I apologize for the outage, our upstream was having a massive DDoS attack on going, they have re-routed a lot of traffic, and things are starting to smooth out slowly but surely.

I do apologize for the outage - things should continue to level out over the next few hours as traffic returns to normal! Your prayers and IM’s were appreciated during this time.

Upgrades, Audits, Crazy!

Monday, September 29th, 2008

Well it’s nearly that time again! Crazy October is right around the corner! Specials are going to be coming to the second full week of October (Monday the 13th) as well as a promotion to tie into the usual Crazy October specials!

A new site look and feel is underway, and it’s coming along quite nicely (if I do say so myself) but I am actively working to get some of the front-end of FlockHosting caught up as my primary goal has been the backend which has been coming along nicely, new enhacements are working nicely, and new mail options are nearly out of the testing phase - special thanks to testers!

I had hoped to have a newsletter out, but the joys of working everywhere lately, busy, which is good, but sometimes time isn’t always available, spent nearly 12 hours sleeping Sunday->Monday, so a nice catch up - but it’s time for some FH TLC! So stay tuned here for more! Off to update the site’s backend in prep for the upcoming changes, so things may be a little out of sorts for a bit.

Server Software Uprades

Monday, September 15th, 2008

More upgrades are underway this week for security/stability and dare I say some enhancements, no long-term service outages, websites/email should see temporary “blink” outs which will be very minimal as services restart to new versions.

I am also looking to launch the official release of Ruby on Rails, but I am re-vamping the newsletter for the 3rd time with some of the new news, and should have it out for sure this week, granting I am not struck by lightning ;)

Email Migration!

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

Flockhosting’s primary email accounts (this includes those used in tickets/support system) will be undergoing a server swap later this evening, there should be no lost email, but there might be a slight delay in receiving your email as the transition occurs.

If you have a support issue, please open a ticket via the Customer Zone (link) as I will be monitoring it closely as email makes the switch.

Catching Up!

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

As many of you may have noticed the blog has not been updated, the newsletter hasn’t gone out again recently, and a few things just seem to of gone by the wayside.

My apologies, I recently moved and things are just now getting back into full swing, this week and into next things should level out and get caught up - as well as a few new feature deployments which will be noted in the newsletter going out this week.

Thank you all for your patience and things should get back to normal here very shortly.

Fantastico Patch On-Going

Sunday, June 29th, 2008

Currently across the entire fleet of servers here at TN/FH the fix for Fantastico is being rolled out - this week may also mark the release of another tool similar to that of Fantastico to be added to all servers fleet wide as well! So stay tuned to the blog for more info as things develop here! The entire roll-out of the fix should be completed by 3PM (Pacific Time). Once it is completed, I’ll post an update to post.

Also the email roll out of the new service is slowly starting - if you would like your current email switched/converted - please open a ticket for further details!

[**Update**] Fantastico updates continue, most servers are back online, Faith and Shepherd both should be functionally normally - if your having issue please open a ticket, Solomon, Business and a few others remain stay tuned!

Fantastico Returning Monday

Sunday, June 29th, 2008

Fantastico will be returning Monday after some more servers are patched up with the updates, I apologize for the outage, and I do thank you for the prayers for my Dad, he got admitted to the ER they did some tests, and released him with a follow-up with his doctor about kidney function.

So things are leveling out on both server & personal fronts. I do appreciate the prayers, and I’ll post more of an update on SEVERAL things this Monday!

Fantastico Offline

Friday, June 27th, 2008

In an effort for a smoother roll out over the next few weeks of the new email, some server upgrades have been rolling into place, as well as some software updates for some announced security issues - thus I have been forced to temporarily disable Fantastico - should be back online in a few hours, I would have it sooner, however I just received word my father has been taken to the ER - possibly dehydrated, prayers are appreciated!

I will update these two things (Fantastico & Dad) as soon as I have more information!

New Mail Online!

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

After a few snags on the initial deployment - the new mail services have gone live today! In a week (not this Monday but the following Monday) every current customer is welcome to switch to the new email system free of charge! More information will follow up here, some instructions, and some various tweaks to DNS are going into place as well, so if your interested in making the move to the new mail that is SEPARATE storage from what you have now, open a ticket and be sure to let me know!

Packages will all get a little make-over after current customers are moved over happily, and the new service will be part of all packages here at FH! Very exciting stuff, more to come!
